WWII 506th Parachute Infantry Division 101st Airborne
SSG J.B. Stokes was part of the "Band of Brothers" of fame. He was involved in the Invasion of Normandy, June 4th, 1944 and parachuted behind enemy lines at Omaha Beach. He was also part of Operation Market Gardens - Sept. 1944 ("A Bridge Too Far"), and was part of the Battle of the Bulge in Dec. 1944 the "Siege of Bastogne". With the passing of SSG Stokes, there are only 23 Easy Company members remaining.

J.B. Stokes passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.
J.B. was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Leonard to Ida Mae and George Stokes. He married Ola Mae Trotter on Dec. 15, 1945. The couple began this life together in Bridgeport. J.B. began his longtime career in the water department. Through the years they were blessed with four children. As years passed, J.B. became director of public works for Azle.
